Tongue of the Jolly Green Giant

Mason is not sliding down a giant green tongue. He is on a leaf-shaped slide at the NC Zoological Park. We took the boys to the zoo in Asheboro today as part of our Fathers' Day festivities.

Mason wasn't all that enthusiastic about the animals, but he certainly enjoyed the playground. The alligators and polar bear caught his interest as well. Max slept through most of our visit, screamed a lot in the car, and was relieved to be home in his crib.

Who is this woman?

Yes, it's me. With very, very straight hair. What happened, you ask? Last night I let a girl at the mall demonstrate her hair-straightening ceramic thingy on me. She jumped out while I was walking by and exclaimed that my hair was just perfect for her product... so I gave it a try. The results were interesting.

Mark isn't sure whether or not he likes it. Mason emphatically does NOT like it; he had a crying fit screaming "I don't like change" when he saw me. The poor salesgirl was aghast.

What do you think? Should I buy the $100 ceramic hair straightener (it can make corkscrew curls, too) and do this more often? Or just leave my mess of a head alone?

Race for the Cure

On Saturday, June 9th, I participated in the Race for the Cure, walking the coed non-competitive 5K with friends from playgroup. This was my second time at the Race and it was amazing -- 22,000 people registered for the Raleigh event this year.

Here's my group: Angela, Lia, Carson, me, and Charlotte (Angela's daughter). Maybe in a few years my boys can come, too!

Yes, this last photo of us post-race is a bit fuzzy... but that's how we were feeling at the time. By the end of the walk, we were rather hot, sweaty, and ready to get home and rest.

I didn't manage to get myself together to ask for donations this year (something about taking care of a baby), but next year save your cancer cure donation funds for me!

"Are fires scary?"

"Are fires scary?" That's what Mason asked the firemen of Raleigh Fire Station #16 this morning when he and his playgroup buddies visited. They looked around the station, climbed all over the trucks, and "drove" just like the firemen. Click on the photo to see more images (on Snapfish) of the event.

Max is now 3 months old. We celebrated with another "photo shoot" last week, on Thursday, June 7th. Click on the photo to see more of his pictures on Snapfish.

Another First -- Max at the Pool

Max slept in his pouch most of the time, but his first trip to the pool went well. He enjoyed watching Mason and Papa splash around and liked the coolness of the water. Next time, maybe we'll put more of him in the water.
